Keeping the focus on wine itself, the goal of this group event is to promote a task where the senses are more paramount than logic. A wine expert starts off by giving a short presentation of the grape matrix and explains the “rules of the game.” The rest of the activity relies on the group working as pairs with one partner blindfolded to start. The first partner will describe the fruit and non-fruit characteristics of each of the wines and then guess the grape varietal from the descriptors using the thew grape matrix as a tool. The activity is a perfect team building exercise because it requires direct communication within the team, which will have to add up their sensorial memories in order to spot out a particular type of wine. At the end of a twenty minute blind tasting we will discuss each partnerships challenges and successes with the exercise.
